BrandCalling is a technology that allows businesses to display their name, logo, and reason for calling on the recipient's smartphone screen instead of just their phone number. This technology combats spam tagging and increases answer rates, often by over 75%, by building trust and providing context for the call. It acts as an enhanced, secure caller ID.

Why this service is important:

Legacy Caller-ID name lookup services, which have been the standard for decades, are now functionally obsolete. The underlying databases, maintained by third-party research and advertising organizations independent of the telecommunications industry, have not been updated in approximately 15 years, rendering their information significantly out-of-date. Since support for these systems ceased, no industry-wide effort has been made to revitalize a centralized name-lookup service.

Addressing this capability gap, a new initiative is being developed in cooperation with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This service, entitled "Name Brand CallerID," will be distinguished by its direct maintenance and operation by the telephone companies themselves, ensuring greater accuracy and reliability.
